Counting down the days

Things are getting pretty crazy here.  We leave in 2 and a half days and it feels like every time I check something off of my "to-do" list, I add 1 or 2 more things!  I'm sure I wouldn't feel so busy if I didn't have to work and if Trip wasn't consumed with final exams and projects.  He is spending all his free time finishing school, I am spending all my free time getting ourselves ready to go.  It is tiring and stressful, but it is totally worth it!  Plus, if we are sleep deprived when we leave, it will make it easier to sleep on the plan, right?!

On a different note, we finally figured out what to do with Jack while we are gone.  Trip was struck with a brilliant idea about a week ago.  Everyone we normally ask to watch Jack when we are gone has travel plans of their own over the holidays and it was looking like we had no other option but to put Jack into boarding.  I am okay with the idea, especially since the boarding place we looked at was ridiculously clean, but 6 weeks is a really long time!  I couldn't help but worry that Jack might think we had abandoned him, especially since he was abandoned before we found him.

Anyway, we had Tennyson Jr over and in the middle of lunch Trip suddenly asked him what he thought about dog and cat sitting at our place for the next 6 weeks.  It was kind of last minute, but everything has fallen into place.  This is a win win for all parties involved...Trip and I don't have to worry about Jack or Tigger, Dad won't be alone and won't have to clean the litter box, and Tennyson will earn money for school and get to test out living with a roommate.  We are truly blessed to have moments of inspiration and friends who are willing and able to help us out!

We are super excited to be home for the holidays and we can't wait to see our family and friends face to face.  I am even excited to wear sweaters again.

Thanksgiving in Malaysia

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving on Sunday.  Since Malaysians don't celebrate Thanksgiving, we didn't get a nice long weekend like everyone back home.  But we made the most of our weekend and had a great time with a bunch of our friends.  The McKinley's were kind enough to host the celebration just like last year.  Trip and I volunteered to make the stuffing this time and it was awesome.  We made so much...we are still eating stuffing!

We also made some cookies.  Scott McKinley had been telling us about these cookies he had grown up with in Pennsylvania called "Gobs".  As it turns out, he was talking about my homemade oreo cookies that I had made for dinner!  I am going to call them Gobs from now on...it sounds much more interesting.

I made more of an effort to take pictures this year.  Unfortunately, I can't upload them right now, so I will have to do that later.

The food was delicious and the company was great!  Happy Thanksgiving!!
